Deploying a multisite CMS helps LWR raise awareness for global poverty
Lutheran World Relief (LWR) is an international non-governmental organization that tackles global poverty by helping people adapt to the challenges that threaten their livelihoods and well-being. LWR is renowned for its integrated approach to addressing global poverty and supporting communities and families during times of need regardless of race, religion, or nationality.
The Challenge
LWR engaged Alliance to develop an online ecosystem that would communicate with a broad audience and draw new visitors into the site to become engaged in their mission, donate, and shop.

Alliance worked with LWR to shape an online strategy that reflected its expanded worldwide footprint and accomplishments, by showcasing the organization’s mission and engaging visitors through valuable calls-to-action to support the work through donations and gifts.

Interactive Volunteer Locator
LWR Ingathering is a local gathering of groups and volunteers that make and collect handmade Quilts and Kits to help areas in need worldwide. Alliance was tasked to help connect quilters with locations throughout the country that would help support their efforts and collect finished quilts. LWR also needed a tool that would reduce the amount of time they were spending maintaining the accuracy of the database.
Alliance built a new mobile-first interactive locator that allows admins to easily add and manage details for multiple locations with ease. The system also allows volunteers to manage multiple locations with ease and helps LWR significantly reduce maintenance while generating more engagement with its quilting community.
Branding Approach
Alliance created an updated branding system for the website including new icons, graphics, and supporting elements.
Mobile-First Wireframes
To bring the web experience in line with the member experience, the Alliance team started with information architecture, creating new wireframes for more intuitive navigation and layout areas. The wireframes allowed the project partners to quickly visualize, test, and evaluate improvements.
