Corus International is on a mission to end extreme poverty — and they needed a website equal to that ambition. Alliance Interactive built a digital platform that unifies a complex family of organizations under one powerful, human-centered narrative.
Corus International operates at the intersection of global health, humanitarian response, education, and economic development. Founded in 2020, Corus serves as the parent organization for Lutheran World Relief, IMA World Health, CGA Technologies, Ground Up Investing, and Farmers Market Brands — uniting more than 150 years of combined expertise under a single mission: ending extreme poverty. That complexity is a strength in the field. On a website, it can quickly become a barrier. Corus needed a digital presence that could do three things simultaneously: communicate a multi-organization story with clarity and confidence; move visitors emotionally — connecting them to the human lives at the center of this work.
Our Approach
Making Complexity Feel Human
Alliance Interactive’s first task was strategic: reframe Corus not as an organizational chart, but as a unified force for change. Rather than leading with structure — which subsidiary does what — we built the site around Corus’s 5 Fundamentals: the essential conditions every person needs to thrive. A safe place to live. Reliable access to food. Quality health services. Learning and digital tools. Economic opportunity.
This framework gave the site a clear, audience-first architecture. Visitors don’t need to understand how Corus is organized. They need to understand what Corus makes possible — and feel compelled to be part of it.
A New Design Language
We developed a visual identity for the Corus digital platform built on four core principles:
Bold, mission-driven photography — real people, real places, unfiltered. Images that don’t soften the realities of the communities Corus serves, but that radiate dignity and resilience.
A warm, grounded color palette that distinguishes Corus from the cooler, more institutional tones common across competing INGO sites — signaling approachability alongside authority.
Clean, minimal layouts that let the stories breathe. No visual clutter, no competing calls to action. Every page element is deliberate.
Data-forward storytelling that weaves measurable impact — scale, reach, outcomes — directly into the narrative, building credibility without sacrificing emotion.
The result is a design language that feels distinctly Corus: warm but urgent, human but rigorous, accessible but authoritative.
Conversion-Focused Architecture
Alliance Interactive developed the Corus website on Drupal 11, the latest version of the world’s most powerful open-source CMS — and the platform of choice for complex, enterprise-scale organizations and global NGOs. The decision was strategic, not incidental.
Every page was built with the next step in mind. Whether a visitor is a program officer evaluating potential partners, a foundation exploring integrated development work, or an individual donor moved by a story from the field, the site guides them toward action — clearly, without pressure, and at their own pace.
SEO & Performance
We optimized the site for both search visibility and speed, delivering a 35% improvement in site performance over the previous platform. Faster load times directly improve the visitor experience, reduce bounce rates, and signal quality to search engines — helping Corus reach the audiences who need to find them.
On-page SEO was built into the content architecture from the ground up: semantic structure, optimized metadata, clean URL taxonomy, and keyword-informed copy across all core pages.
The Result
