About Women’s College Coalition

The Women’s College Coalition (WCC) is the association and voice for women’s colleges in the United States and Canada. WCC needed to translate their uncompromising commitment to women’s education into an online presence that engages a range of visitors including advisers, students, parents, and member organizations. They turned to Alliance to re-imagine their brand, marketing approach, and redesign an aging website, with a major focus on creating a comprehensive women’s colleges directory and a new website experience for the WCC Foundation.

Challenges

WCC needed to translate their uncompromising commitment to women’s education into an online presence that engaged a diverse audience including advisors, students, parents, member organizations, and supporters. In addition, they needed a modern, easy-to-navigate women’s colleges directory that could help prospective students explore coalition member schools, while also clearly communicating the mission and impact of the WCC Foundation.

Solutions

By working collaboratively with WCC, our team developed an online marketing strategy, updated branding and positioning, and a new website. Alliance also launched a new interactive women’s colleges directory designed to engage and attract prospective students while showcasing coalition member schools. In parallel, we created a dedicated website experience for the WCC Foundation to support storytelling, visibility, and donor engagement.

Results

Alliance Interactive’s strategy produced a customized Drupal CMS dashboard that allows the WCC team to view site activity and manage content directly on-screen. WCC’s new brand identity led to improved brand perception and visibility, while the revised website design increased organic keyword searches by 245% and decreased the bounce rate by 45%. The launch of the women’s colleges directory and the new Foundation website experience strengthened how WCC connects prospective students, member schools, and supporters to the coalition’s mission.

Women’s Colleges Directory Experience

The women’s colleges directory was designed to give prospective students a clear, engaging way to discover and compare member institutions. A searchable directory listing page allows users to browse schools efficiently while highlighting key differentiators at a glance. Each school’s full details page provides a structured, content-rich profile that supports deeper exploration of academics, campus life, and admissions pathways. Together, these experiences strengthen WCC’s role as a trusted guide while elevating visibility for individual member schools.

New Logo and Identity System

The new Women’s College Coalition logo was designed to visually express academic excellence, collective strength, and forward momentum. The graduation cap serves as a universal symbol  of higher education, while its clean, modern form reflects WCC’s role as a contemporary voice advocating for women’s colleges across North America. The subtle upward angle of the cap  reinforces progress, leadership, and long term opportunity.

The gradient color palette introduces depth and energy, balancing tradition with innovation. Blue anchors the brand in trust, credibility, and institutional authority, while the lighter tones signal accessibility and optimism for future generations of students. Together, these elements create a mark that feels both established and forward looking.

Branding Approach

The Women’s College Coalition branding and website required a total overhaul. Visual rebranding was designed to create something entirely new, not just a new logo, but also a new visual vocabulary of colors, textures, and brand standards for all of the client’s marketing materials. Ordinary stock photos were replaced with bold, custom graphics, photography, and text that reflect the association’s personality and approach to its work. This updated brand system carried consistently across the primary WCC site, the women’s colleges directory experience, and the WCC Foundation website.
