The Challenge
National Garden Clubs, Inc. (NGC) is the largest gardening member organization in the United States, with over 130,000 members dedicated to conservation, education, and community beautification. However, their previous website no longer reflected the scale, importance or sophistication of their mission. NGC tapped Alliance to help reimagine an outdated design, disorganized navigation, and inconsistent branding made it difficult for members, volunteers, and the public to find resources or get involved. To serve their growing national network and attract new members, NGC needed a modern, intuitive, and visually elegant platform that communicated the organization’s values and mission.
Our Approach
Alliance Interactive was selected to completely reimagine NGC’s digital experience — creating a high-performing, user-friendly website that would inspire engagement, improve navigation, and elevate the organization’s online presence.
- User-Centered Strategy: We began with stakeholder workshops to map user journeys across multiple audiences: members, prospective members, club leaders, and the general public. This informed a simplified site architecture focused on clear pathways — “Join,” “Find a Club,” and “Get Involved” — while reducing redundant or outdated content.
- Elegant Visual Redesign: Leveraging NGC’s brand guide, we developed a digital style that combined traditional elegance with a fresh, contemporary aesthetic. A refined color palette, nature-inspired imagery, and clear typography reinforced the organization’s identity while improving readability and accessibility.
- Scalable, Modern Platform: Alliance migrated the website to a new content management system, enabling staff and volunteers to easily update events, awards, and membership resources. Modular templates ensured flexibility for future enhancements like interactive maps, dynamic event listings, and club directories.
- Performance & Accessibility: The new site was built mobile-first, optimized for speed, and compliant with WCAG accessibility standards. Streamlined navigation and responsive layouts ensured a seamless experience for users across all devices.
